Make Me Private

I hadnt used the hard drive for finances for about a year, but rather used it for day to day activities (internet, music ect) is there a chance any of my data could be collected? it has been 6 months since it was thrown out…
it was used for a year for recreational use before it was thrown out, wouldnt most of the delted information be overwrritten by then?
