Resolved Question: What should I do about this line of credit?

Monday, June 30th, 2008

I have a payment due June 9 for 502.00 that I know I will not be able to pay. I have contacted the lender to see what options I have. First I was sent to credit protection who says that I do not qualify for the benefit as my “life event” happened prior to enrolling in the program. (I had a baby this past month). I contacted customer service who says they do not have any way they can help me as I have never been late on a payment. They work with people who are already in trouble. So here I am unable to pay, I have contacted the lender to try to get help and still no luck. Any suggestions? What will happen if I don’t pay?

Resolved Question: What is a credit protection statement on a credit report?

Monday, June 30th, 2008

I tried to get a increase on one of my credit cards today and was told by the rep. that she could’nt because I had a credit protection statement on the account through Experian. Not a fraud alert, she says they are different.

Anyone know what this is, and why I could’nt get the increase?

I tried to call Experian, but I can’t get a live person. Arrrg!

Resolved Question: Can a collection agency or law firm use deceptive tactics to find and contact a person?

Monday, June 30th, 2008

My mother received a call from a woman who was trying to find me. She claimed she was from a Vancouver company which specializes in finding people.

Apparently a lawyer from Toronto hired them to find me as I am a beneficiary in someone’s will (this person has passed away) and they didn’t have a current address for me.

This woman did not give me any information as to who died. She only cited the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy act, and said that the lawyer was the only one with that information.

I am suspicious because I don’t know anyone who has died recently, and I don’t know anyone at all in the Toronto area (where the lawyer is from). Would a collection agency or law firm resort to deceptive tactics such as this to find me? I have had some credit problems in the past, and still owe some people money. Am I being paranoid for nothing?
Thx for the answers so far… I forgot to add that the woman who called me already knew my previous address, and the year I was born. I did end up giving her my current address.. don’t know now if I should have though. Probably should have just asked for the lawyers info to contact him / her directly!

Voting Question: do most ps3s run quiet?

Monday, June 30th, 2008

ok here is the deal. i owned a 60gig ps3 i bought it in late august, the thing worked like a charm it was super quiet never had any issues with it, there would be times where i did not even know it was on. when i bought gta4 and played it for a few days it destroyed my system to a point where it would not play any games or movies. i was devastated but luckily i had an eb games protection plan so i brought it in and they gave me a brand new 40 gig(plus 200 bucks store credit to make up for the difference in price) since the 60 has been dis-continued. i really did not mind until i got home and played it… the thing sounded like a jet engine i returned for another one and still sounded like a jet engine in total i returned four ps3 sytems to game stop in different locations around my area.i eventually gave up. was is this bad luck? or am using this as an excuse sub-consciously because i really miss my 60gig lol? is there really a such thing a dead silent ps3? help

Resolved Question: Dirty joke so read if ur dirty lol?

Bankjob
Like where the jungle is. There is a rare pistol but it is yet to fire any shots because the aim is off target. Let me tell u the plane does fly and can also land perfectly. However the life savings have not been put in any bank account cos the bank is always closed. Now when the doors open should u be worried if the bank does not accept the deposit because u have a bad credit rating. If so just continue looking for one with the highest interest. Or instead you could commit armed robbery then fly off to the jungle with your plane. The bank will want to sue u for fraud though so make sure u have some sort of protection on your claim.

The Frustrations Of A Debit Card

Monday, June 30th, 2008

One of the biggest differences between traditional credit cards and debit cards is the protection and security features a customer receives. Losing a debit card is the same thing as losing cash if a thief gains access to your bank
